Principal of St Albans School of Dance
St Albans School of Dance was founded in 2010 by Natalia Richardson. Natalia was born in the ex-USSR, studying Dance from the age of 7, first Ballet then Ballroom and Latin. She had training from some of Europe's leading teachers and in her early teens and won competitions throughout Eastern Europe. As a result of an International Competition Dancing, Natalia gained popularity in Germany where she took up residence. During the five years living in Freiburg, near the Swiss border, she taught many aspects of dance and represented Germany in top International Competitions. The European circuit included dancing in the UK. While living in the UK she declined partnering leading British Dancer Anton Du Beke, as it coincided with the birth of her son. Natalia now lives in Harpenden and teaches private customers, alongside group classes at her dance school, St Albans School of Dance.
Natalia graduated from University with a Pharmacy degree and is also a talented linguist, fluent in English, Russian, Spanish and German. She is also known as Natasha, which is the diminutive of Natalia in Russian. In European Dance Competitions she was known by her maiden name Natalia Voronina.
We offer 9 weekly Ballroom & Latin American dance classes, catering to a range of ability levels, from Beginners to Advanced.
Our courses are usually 12 weeks long, providing our customers with a substantial amount of tuition, which allows participants to improve their dancing and progress to a higher standard. We have three terms a year, split up into Autumn (September-December), Winter (January-April) and Summer (May-July) terms.
There is no dance dress code, but you are recommended to wear firm shoes; trainers, sandals and flip flops are not advisable. Clothing is best to be loose fitting, giving good freedom of movement. If you decide you wish to purchase a pair of dance shoes, we will gladly provide you with advice.
Twice a year, your dancing skills can be put to good use at our Summer or Winter Social Dance events, held at Harpenden Public Hall. They are nights which sometimes include live music from specialist dance bands and are always hugely popular.

We are confident you will enjoy dancing with us, please call us for professional advice and recommendation on the most suitable course for you. Subject to arrangement, we are happy for potential dancers to view a lessons in progress or to try before paying for the whole term.
Our packages, detailed below, offer a great way to prepare you for the First Dance on one of the most important days of your life! No previous dancing experience is required for our packages, although if you still have plenty of time remaining before your big day, we suggest first signing up for a group Beginners class, as this will provide the rudiments for all the main Ballroom & Latin American dances. With this past experience under your belt, you will find it much easier to choose the right song and dance for your wedding.
All of our packages include full individual choreography and you are of course encouraged to choose your own song. However, we will also provide professional advice on suitable music.
Dancing lessons can take place in the comfort of your own home, or at a dance studio and can be purchased singularly or as a package.
Bookings for our packages can made below. Upon payment you will be provided with a form which will give us all the details we need to begin to choreograph your dance and finalise the lesson dates and times.
We tend to have availability throughout weekdays during the day, and at certain times during weekday evenings and at the weekend.
Whether we have to hire a hall for your tuition or have to travel to your home (within a reasonable distance) this is included in the package price.
Please note, there may be a £10 per hour surcharge if lessons can only be taken at the weekend.

The gifts can be in the form of either private tuition or group lessons.
Private lessons include hall hire, and individual choreography.
